You give out your information to lots of people all the time .. emails and phone numbers and in the main they are really of no use to most people.
But I have several email addresses anyway each with it`s own password specifically set up to prevent spammers and scammers.
And If you`re that concerned just change your password on any sites that you feel are are important. Something you should do anyway now and again.
.
The main concern of course is your online bank but most bank websites are extremely secure and need several steps of verification before you can access your account

But as I said, this has been going on since the beginning of January and should have been picked up long ago by Admin on here but it wasn`t .. and I want to know why.

Not that it matters now.

This was picked up by me and I reported it to the Webmaster but no notice seems to have been taken of it so it appears they are past caring I would think that the problem started when the site was shifted to a cheaper server to keep the costs of hosting down otherwise the site would have been shut down in January

Thank you Fred.

Its seems that the Captain and the Chief Mate have deserted the sinking ship and left the Second Mate in charge.

Just because someone has added multiple new accounts or registrations to this forum, it does NOT mean the site is compromised. Anybody could go on the BBC website, or GMail, or millions of other sites for that matter, and create spurious accounts if they have the time or inclination. By no stretch of the imagination does this mean those websites are compromised.

It has just taken me a couple of minutes to enter a new registration and activate it by email.

Interestingly, I could login and reply to my post as the new member, but was 'told' that the post had to be approved before it would be made public. So it looks like all these new members have joined and activated themselves but can't post without it being vetted.

You say only e mails are at risk but if you look at the history in old posts some people have posted their landline and mobile numbers etc, so a good place for the scammers to build up information on someone, not advisable under the circumstances
You don't have to login to view old posts so definitely not a good idea to publish your phone number.

I guess all of this is irrelevant anyway as the forum is closing soon.

Well the system has changed then because you couldn`t log on until you had received a confirmation email from the Administrator.
That was a bone of contention with new members because it was taking a long time and sometimes not at all until an enquiry was sent.

You`re an intelligent man Sheff _Blade .. what or who do think is behind these multiple new member applications and what can they gain by it.

I assume you are The Devil Incarnate

The new member applications are all coming from Eastern Europe servers and most of the posts are links to Porn websites or fake documents sites I am deleting around 40 per day, most I am banning
